It has been quite some time since I wrote a post for a blog, and I’ve got to tell you, it feels good to be back. There are some people who remember AnOldFashioned.com several years ago and hopefully there are a lot of new people to the site too. For those of you who previously read my posts, it’s going to be the same thing you were used to, for those of you who haven’t heard of the site before, let me explain exactly what it is I’ll be writing about here.
I think that we tend to throw the baby out with the bath water when it comes to our culture. I think there are a lot of genuinely wonderful advancements that we have made in our society and our culture. We are more compassionate generally, we are more accepting generally, we are more informed generally. These are all great things about living in the futuristic world that is 21st century America.
However, there is still something to be said for the old way of doing things. Wood and leather and metal rather than plastic. Craftsmanship rather than mass production. Putting pride in things that are made by free people who are treated fairly rather than by oppressed people in other countries.
This website will be devoted to those old fashioned ideas, products and places that are devoted to bringing those old world ideas into the 21st century. Beans and businesses that have taken the best from the past and brought it forward. I hope you enjoy.
